Brightening Products for Skin

Most skin lightening creams contain hydroquinone, a chemical identified by FDA. It should be of 2% concentration only to stay away from any undesirable effects.

The most frequent side effects of skin lightening products are skin irritation and a burning feel around the area where the cream was applied. The itchiness or stinging of the skin should be slight and momentary, with some reddening of skin.

Hydroquinone is prohibited by health-care professionals for folks having kidney or liver illness and for those who are currently pregnant. For people suffering from these conditions, the use of hydroquinone can only worsen their condition.

Further studies have shown that the medicine can cause birth defects in developing fetuses.  But the main reason why the use of hydroquinone skin whitening products is frowned upon is due to one of its active component which is Mercury. Mercury in large doses is poisonous to human beings.
